List of Ingredients
4 Granny Smith or other baking apples
1/4 cup raisins
4 teaspoons butter or margarine
1/3 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
2 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon flour
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon water
Recipe
Preheat oven to 350F. Core the apples almost all the way through, leaving about 1/4 inch thickness on bottom. Peel back a one-inch strip of skin around the top of each apple. Slice a small piece from the bottom of each apple, if necessary, so that they will stand up straight.
Place the apples in a small Pyrex dish or flat casserole. Divide the raisins among the apples. Mix the brown sugar and butter together and fill the apples with the mixture. Set the apples in the oven and bake for approximately 20 minutes. Meanwhile in a small bowl, combine the white sugar, flour, cinnamon and water. Spoon this mixture over the partially-baked apples and continue to bake for another 20 minutes, or until tender in the center when tested with a knife.
Serve warm or cool with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream if desired.
