Christmas: Ann's Favorite Gingerbread

List of Ingredients
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup butter
1 egg
1 cup molasses
1 cup hot water
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon salt
Recipe
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. (175 C)
Cream together the sugar and butter. Add
egg, and beat well. Mix in the molasses.*
Sift together the flour, baking soda, salt, and spices.
Slowly add these dry ingredients to the creamed mixture while alternately adding the hot water. Mix well.
Pour the batter into three (3) 8-inch square pans sprayed with PAM.
Bake for one hour or until inserted tester comes out clean at 350 degrees F.
Cool and serve or keep warm and serve with a dollop of whipped cream.
Each 8-inch square pan serves 9 people. Total: 27 Servings
* Note: For easier release of molassess, spray the measuring cup with PAM.
