    Christmas: Advent Cookie Calendar

    Source of Recipe

    Selena McDevitt

    List of Ingredients

    9 pieces (8x10”) card stock (1 black, 2 yellow, 2 red, 2 orange, and 2 blue)
    scissors
two 22x28” green poster board sheets
    ruler
    large tip black marker
    1 can (11 ounces) all-purpose spray adhesive
    1 package of 1” self-stick numbers
    craft knife
    hot glue gun
    plastic wrap

    Recipe

Using a light bulb cookie cutter (or draw a template of a Christmas light bulb), cut out 25 bulbs using colored card stock. On the black card stock, cut out a 7x4” rectangle for the stump and set it aside.

On 1 sheet of green poster board, mark the center point (11”) on the board at the top (short) edge. Draw 2 lines from the center point to each bottom corner; cut out the triangle. Using a black marker, draw a thick line, zigzagging down, for “string”.

Using spray adhesive, attach the black rectangle to the bottom of the triangle for the “stump”; attack bulb cutouts, placing them along the “string”. To create advent doors, place self-sticking numbers (1-25) onto bulb shapes. Using a craft knife, cut around the bulb shapes, leaving the bases of the bulbs uncut.

For cookie liners, draw 4” (long) ovals and cut out 25 from remaining poster board. Using scraps, cut twenty-five 10x1/2” wide strips. Working with 1 oval at a time, apply glue along edge of oval; attach a 10” strip. Repeat with remaining ovals and strips.

Apply hot glue to the top edge of the strips and gently press onto the back of each bulb; let the liners set. Wrap small cookies in plastic wrap and place in cookie liners. You can also cut the cookies into Christmas light bulbs to go with the theme.
