    Christmas: Candy Cane Brownies

    List of Ingredients




    2/3 cup butter
    8 ounce semisweet chocolate, chopped
    4 oz. unsweetened chocolate, chopped
    1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
    4 eggs
    2 tsp. vanilla
    1 cup all purpose flour
    1 tsp. salt

    Topping:
    1/2 cup crushed candy canes
    2/3 cup mini chocolate chips

    Line a 9x13 inch metal pan with parchment paper.

    In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter, semisweet chocolate and unsweetened chocolate. Let cool for 10 minutes. Whisk in sugar, then eggs, one at a time, whisking well after each addition. Whisk in vanilla. Using a wooden spoon, stir in flour and salt. Scrape into the prepared pan.

    Bake in a 350 degree oven until cake tester inserted in centre comes out with a few moist crumbs still clinging, about 25-30 minutes.

    For the topping, sprinke with chopped candy canes then chocolate chips. Return to oven for 30 seconds (do not let topping melt) Let cool comletely in pan on rack.

    YIELD: Makes about 40 bars.
