    Holiday: Caramel Treats

    List of Ingredients

    3/4 cup butter, softened
    1/2 cup powdered sugar
    1 large egg
    2 teaspoons vanilla
    1/2 teaspoon almond extract
    Dash of salt
    2 cups flour
    48 round toothpicks

    Coating:
    36 unwrapped caramels
    1/4 cup milk
    1 cup finely chopped nuts

    Recipe

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Beat butter and powdered sugar until fluffy. Beat in egg, vanilla, almond extract and salt. On low speed, gradually add flour. Roll into 1/2-inch diameter balls. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet for 12 to 14 minutes. Do not brown. Cool and insert toothpicks. Then melt caramel and milk, stirring often. Dip bottom of cookie into melted caramel drawing the bottom across the pan to remove excess. Dip bottom into chopped nuts. Place on waxed paper. Place into miniature cupcake papers. Will look like caramel apple when finished.

    YIELD: 48 Treats
