Holiday: Fruit Drops

List of Ingredients
3 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup soft butter or margarine
2 cups brown sugar, packed
2 eggs
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cups chopped nuts
2 cups halved candied cherries (1 cup green, 1 cup red is festive)
2 cups cut up dates
Recipe
Sift together in bowl flour, soda and salt. Put butter or margarine in large bowl. Add brown sugar, eggs. Beat with mixer or wooden spoon until light and fluffy. Add buttermilk, vanilla and flour mixture. Mix well. Stir in nuts, candied cherries, dates. Drop by teaspoon on slightly greased cookie sheet. Bake in 350-degree oven for 12 to 15 minutes until lightly browned. Cook on racks.
