    Giant Pretzels

    Source of Recipe

    Internet

    List of Ingredients

    1 pkg. yeast
    1 1/2 cup warm water (105-115 degrees)
1/2 tsp. sugar (needed for yeast to rise)
    4 1/2 cups flour
    1 egg yolk
    2 Tbsp. water
    Course salt
    Sesame seeds

    Recipe

Dissolve yeast in warm water and add sugar.

Add flour and kneed 6 minutes.

Let dough rise, covered, in a greased bowl until double in size.

Divide the dough into 12 pieces and let your children roll them into long sticks.

Blend together the egg and the water and have your children brush some of the mixture on to their pretzels.

Next let them sprinkle on some course salt or sesame seeds.

Help your children lay their pretzel on a cookie sheet. Some will want theirs twisted to look like a real pretzel, some will want theirs long and skinny, others may want to make letters.

Bake at 450 for 12 minutes. A crock pot on low is good for keeping pretzels warm.

    YIELD: 12 Giant Pretzels

Suggestion: Long stick pretzels are fun to dip into sandwich spreads. Place a serving of deviled ham, egg salad, tuna salad, etc. on a plate and let your children dip and eat.
