    3 to 4 lbs. Fresh Pork Spare Ribs, cut into 2-3 rib portions


    2 (32-oz.) Bags Sauerkraut, drained


    2 Yellow Onions


    2 Tart Green Apples, cored and wedged (Granny Smith)


    1/2 cup Brown Sugar


    1/2 cup Beer or Water


    Recipe



    Layer ingredients into a large dutch oven or crock pot in the following order; sauerkraut, onions, apples, beer or water, brown sugar (sprinkle evenly over) and Spare Ribs.


    Bring to a boil, lower heat, cover and simmer gently for 2 1/2 to 3 hours or until ribs are very tender.


    Serve with boiled or mashed potatoes.

    Preparation and cooking time 2 1/2 hours
