Dessert: Maple Walnut Sauce

1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1/4 cup maple syrup
1/2 cup milk or half and half cream
1 tablespoon butter or margarine
1/2 cup toasted coarsely chopped walnuts
Recipe
1. In a heavy saucepan, combine the brown sugar and cornstarch.
2. Gradually stir in the milk and maple syrup until smooth. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly.
3. Cook and stir for 2-3 minutes or until slightly thickened. Remove from the heat.
4. Stir in butter and add the walnuts.
5. Serve warm over ice cream.
