    Condiment: Apple-y, Almond-y Cranberry Sauce

    List of Ingredients

    1 cup sugar
    1/2 cup cranberry juice (or cranberry-apple juice)
    1/2 tsp almond or vanilla extract
    1 pound fresh cranberries
    4 cups diced peeled apples (such as Granny Smith) (about 1 pound)
    2/3 cup chopped almonds

    Recipe

    Combine the sugar, cranberry juice, extract, and fresh cranberries in a large saucepan; bring to a boil over medium-high heat; simmer 15 minutes or until cranberries pop and mixture thickens. Remove from heat; stir in apples and almonds. Spoon into a bowl, cover, and chill at least 4 hours.

    Makes 4 cups
