Hot Mushroom Dip
List of Ingredients
- 4 slices bacon, fried crisp, drained, crumbled set aside, reserve fat
- 2 Tablespoons bacon fat, reserved from cooking bacon
- 1/2 pound fresh mushrooms, sliced
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 1 clove garlic, finely minced
- 2 tablespoon flour
- 1/4 teaspon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
- 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, room temperature
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 teaspoons soy sauce
- 1/2 cup sour cream
Instructions
- In skillet where bacon was cooked, warm the bacon fat. Saute the onions, mushrooms, and garlic until they are tender and the liquid is evaporated (careful not to brown)
- Mix in the flour, salt and ground pepper.
- Reduce the heat and stir in the cream cheese, Worcestershire and soy sauce. Blend until smooth. Remove from heat and stir in the reserved bacon and sour cream.
- Serve with assorted crackers and/or breadsticks
