    Mushrooms Turnovers


    List of Ingredients


    • 1 (8 oz.) package cream cheese, softened
    • 1 cup butter or margarine
    • 2 cups flour
    • Filling:
    • 1 1/4 pounds fresh mushrooms, cleaned and dried, and minced
    • 1/2 medium size onion, minced
    • 3 tablespoons butter
    • 2 tablespoons flour
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
    • 1 tablespoon dry sherry
    • 1/4 cup sour cream


    Instructions


    1. Cream together cream cheese and butter; add 2 cups flour and form into a dough. (Can be done in processor. Careful to process only a very short time, until a ball of dough forms.)
    2. Divide into 3 balls of dough. Wrap each in plastic wrap and chill at least 1 hour.
    3. Saute mushrooms and onion in butter. Cook until most liquid is given up and evaporates.
    4. Stir in flour, salt,pepper and sherry. Cook until well blended.
    5. Remove from heat. Stir in sour cream and allow mixture to cool.
    6. Roll dough into a 1/8-inch thickness of lightly floured board. Cut out 3-inch circles.
    7. Place 1 teaspoon of filling on each, fold in half, stretching dough and crimping the edges.
    8. Make an egg wash of 1 egg yolk mixed with 1 tablespoon water. Brush turnovers before baking.
    9. Bake in 375 degree F oven for 15 to 20 minutes until golden brown.
