    Abalone Steaks

    List of Ingredients




    12 abalone steaks
    2 egg, beaten
    Salt and pepper
    Dash red pepper
    Flour
    2 tablespoons butter or margarine
    2 tablespoons oil

    Recipe



    Prepare abalone slices for cooking by
    pounding each between sheets of wax
    paper until almost lacy. Season eggs
    to taste with salt and pepper and add
    red pepper. Dip abalone slices, one
    at a time, in egg mixture, then coat
    with flour. Heat butter with oil in
    skillet until butter melts and
    mixture is hot. Add abalone slices
    and cook a few at a time until golden
    on both sides. Remove to a heated
    platter and keep hot while cooking
    remaining abalone.
    Makes 6 servings.

    Gee what would it cost to make that?
    I shudder to even think what abalone
    costs now.

    One time I made it with fine dry
    bread crumbs and sliced almonds
    copying something I had at a
    restaurant. It was great!
