Enchilada Sauce-Easy
List of Ingredients
- 1 medium size onion, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons salad oil
- 3 1/2 cups tomato puree
- 2 cloves garlic, finely minced
- 4 tablespoons chile powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano powder
Instructions
- Saute onion and garlic in salad oil just until limp and translucent. Add tomato puree.
- Gradually stir in chile powder, cumin, oregano and salt.
- Cover and simmer at least 30 minutes, stirring frequently.
- Strain through a medium-fine wire strainer, if desired. Makes about 3 cups.
