    List of Ingredients




    Fried Apple Pies

    One 5oz package of dried apples *
    2 cups of water
    ½ cup of sugar
    2 Tab butter
    ½ teaspoon cinnamon
    One 15oz. package refrigerated pie crust
    1 ½ cups vegetable oil or more if needed

    Cook the apples with the water in a covered pot over medium-low heat for about 1 hour or until all liquid has been absorbed. Stir occasionally.
    Add the sugar, butter and cinnamon, mixing well; cool.

    Unfold the pie crust and break into 8 equal pieces. Place 1 heaping tablespoon of fruit on each round of dough, leaving ½ inch border all around. Dip your finger in water and moisten the edges of the crust, then place a second round on top of the filling and crimp the edges to ensure a seal.

    Pour the oil into a 10- cast-iron skillet. Heat oil over a medium-high heat. When oil is hot cook 3 or 4 pies for about 2 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Drain on paper towel.
    Sprinkle the pies with sugar while they are still hot.

    * Can use canned apple pie filling instead of dried apples.
