    ~Family Recipe~

    Recipe Introduction

Although this is a family recipe, it wasn't made in a crockpot. It was made in an iron pot and cooked on a wood burning stove. The taste is not the same, but close.

    List of Ingredients

    Family Favorite Beef Stew:

1 1/2 lb. beef stew meat, cut into 3/4-inch cubes
2 tablespoons Pillsbury BEST All Purpose or Unbleach Flour
    1 teaspoon salt
    1 Tablespoon onion powder
    2 packs Sazon (tomato flavor)
2 packs Sazon (onion & garlic flavor)
    1/2 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
    1 tablespoon oil
1 lb. small (2 1/2 to 3-inch) red potatoes, quartered
1 1/2 cups frozen pearl onions (from a 16-oz. pkg.)
1 (1-lb) pkg. fresh baby carrots
    1 (12-oz. ) jar beef gravy
1 (14.5-oz.) can diced tomatoes, undrained
3 tablespoons Pillsbury BEST All Purpose or Unbleached Flour
    1/4 cup cold water

    Recipe

    1) On waxed paper, sprinkle beef with 2 tablespoons flour, salt and pepper; toss to coat. Heat oil in large skillet over medium-high heat until hot. Add coated beef; cook and stir 4 to 6 minutes or until browned, stirring occasionally.

    2) In 4 to 6-quart slow cooker, layer potatoes, onions and carrots. Add browned beef; sprinkle with any remaining flour mixture. Top with grave and tomatoes and seasonings.

    3. Cover; cook on low setting for 8 to 10 hours. Before serving, blend 3 tablespoons flour with 1/4 cup cold water. Stir into stew. Cook on HIGH, covered, 10 minutes or until thickened.

    6 (1 2/3-cup) serving

Now you know this go good with some homemade cornbread!
