~Weeknight Spaghetti Pie~

All I can say about this is it's a different way to eat pasta. It's very good.
List of Ingredients
6 ounces spaghetti or vermicelli, uncooked
2 teaspoons dried basil, divided
1 clove garlic, pressed
1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 large egg, lightly beaten
1 cup ricotta cheese
1 pound lean ground beef
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 (15-ounce) can tomato sauce
1 (6-ounce) can tomato paste
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 cup sliced mushrooms
1/4 cup white wine (optional)
6 ounces sliced mozzarella cheese
Recipe
1- Cook spachetti according to package directions; drain.
2- Combine spaghetti, 1 teaspoon basil, garlic, and next 3 ingredients. Press mixture into a lightly greased 10-inch pieplate.
3- Spread ricotta cheese over spaghetti mixture.
4- Cook ground beef and chopped onion over medium-high heat in a large skillet, stirring until meat crumbles; drain well.
5- Add remaining 1 teaspoon basil, tomato sauce, and next 3 ingredients to beef mixture; stir in wine, if desired. Cook 5 minutes or until thoroughly heated. Spoon ground beef mixture over ricotta cheese.
6- Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Remove from oven, and top with cheese slices. Bake 5 additional minutes or until cheese melts.
Yield: 6 servings
