Stuffed Cinnamon Apples
List of Ingredients
1 1/2 to 2 cups water
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup cinnamon candies (red hots)
6 whole cloves
6 apples (jonathan or winesap)
1 cup softened cream cheese
1/3 cup mayonnaise
4 tablespoons chopped nuts
Recipe
Boil water, sugar, candies and cloves till candies are dissolved and syrup is red. Peel and core apples (leaving them whole). Cut away a hole about 1 inch in diameter through the core. Drop apples in syrup and boil slowly, carefully turning apples in syrup till apples are tender and well colored. Drain and chill. Mix cheese and mayo. Stuff apples with cheese mixture; sprinkle nuts on top of cheese.
