Bell Pepper Casserole
List of Ingredients
1 pound ground sirloin or ground chuck (the leaner the better)
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 green and 1 red pepper, finely chopped
2 medium onions, finely chopped
2 tablespoons chopped green onion
2 cloves garlic, minced or crushed
1 cup fresh bread crumbs
1 egg, beaten
2 tablespoons minced parsley
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
1/8 teaspoon allspice
1-2 dashes Tobasco sauce
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon pepper
2 tablespoon grated parmesan or romano cheeseRecipe
Brown meat in oil in large pan. Cook meat till done. Remove meat and set aside. Add peppers and onions. Saute 5 minutes over low heat or till vegetables are soft. Return meat to pan along with garlic. Stir in bread crumbs, egg, parsley and seasonings, blending well. Turn into buttered shallow 2 quart caserole or baking dish. Sprinkle with parmesan cheese. (Casserole can be prepared ahead of time. Cover after putting on the cheese and refrigerate.) Bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes or till crumbs are lightly browned.
