Braised Round Steak
List of Ingredients
1 1/2 -2 pounds round steak
2 tablespoons oil
2 large onions, cut into rings
1 red and 1 green bell pepper, sliced into rings
3 stalks celery, sliced
1 clove garlic, minced or pressed
1/2 cup red wine
1 can (8 ounces) stewed tomatoes
1 bay leaf
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepperRecipe
Wipe meat with damp paper toweling. In large skillet, brown meat in 1 tablespoon of the heated oil. Remove meat to oiled baking dish. Set aside. In same skillet, saute onions, peppers, celery and garlic in remaining oil for about 5 minutes. Add wine, tomatoes and seasonings. Bring to boil. Pour over meat. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 1-1 1/2 hours or till meat is tender. Cut into serving pieces and serve immediately.
