    Holiday Brisket

    List of Ingredients




    One 4- to 5-pound beef brisket
    1 teaspoon garlic powder
    1 teaspoon paprika
    1 teaspoon salt
    1 teaspoon black pepper
    2 tablespoons vegetable oil
    3 medium onions, chopped
    3 medium tomatoes, chopped
    1/4 cup water

    Recipe



    1. Season the brisket with the garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
    2. In a soup pot, heat the oil over medium-high heat and brown the brisket for 6 to 7 minutes, turning once. Add the onions, tomatoes, and water.
    3. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 3 1/2 to 4 hours, or until fork-tender.
    4. Slice across the grain and serve with the sauce from the pot.
    Note: This is great as is, or you can make it your own special way by adding a packet of onion soup mix or maybe some tomato sauce or a few chopped veggies like celery or carrots. Serves 6-8
