Lemon shake-ups

Here's my version of a carnival and fair favorite. I like to add strawberries sometimes. I freeze them in cleaned and hulled halves on a cookie sheet and then put them in a ziplock bag when frozen. Add a few to each "shake-up". (I also like to add them to my mixed drinks or sodas instead of ice cubes.)
Recipe
2 cups sugar
1 cup water
1 1/2 cups fresh lemon juice
1 whole lemon sliced thin
Combine sugar and water and boil for 5 minutes. Cool and add lemon juice. Float lemon slices in cooked syrup so it absorbs even more flavor. Store syrup in covered container in refrigerator.
To make a "shake-up": add 2 tablespoons of the syrup to an 8 oz. glass of water with plenty of crushed ice. Shake or stir to mix. Lemon slices can be added to each glass if preferred.
