Lemon Bread
List of Ingredients
Makes 1 loaf
Cream together :
3/4 cup margarine
1 1/2 cup sugar
Beat in:
3 eggs
Sift together:
2 1/4 cups flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
Into creamed mixture add flour mixture alternately with:
3/4 cup buttermilk
Mix well, then stir in:
1 tablespoon lemon rind
3/4 cup chopped nutsRecipe
Put batter into a 9x5x3 inch greased amd floured loaf pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour and 20 minutes. Cool 15 minutes in pan then remove to wire rack to cool.
While loaf is bakng prepare glaze by combining:
1/2 cup lemon juice
3/4 cup sugar
Let glaze stand to allow sugar to dissolve. After removing loaf from pan pierce top of loaf with cake tester several places. Pour glaze over loaf.
