Gold Cake
List of Ingredients
2 cups sifted cake flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup granulated sugar
3 egg yolks
3/4 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon orange extract Recipe
Sift together 3 times the flour, baking powder and salt. Mix shortening on medium speed until fluffy and creamed; gradually add sugar, while continuing to mix until mixture is light. Add yolks which have been beaten until very thick and lemon-colored. Add the flour mixture alternately in thirds with the milk, beating smooth after each addition. Stir in extract.
Bake in 2 greased and floured 8" round cake pans in moderately hot oven 375 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until done.
