    1 cup flour
    1/2 teaspoon baking powder
    10 tablespoons butter, softened
    3/4 cup sugar
    3 large ggs
    1 large egg yolk
    1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla

    Recipe



    Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Generously grease and flour madeleine pan. On sheet of waxed paper, mix flour and baking powder. In large bowl, with mixer at medium speed, beat butter and sugar till creamy, about 2 minutes. Add eggs and yolk and vanilla. Increase speed to high; beat till pale yellow, about 3 minutes. Reduce speed to low and beat in flour just till blended, scraping bowl with rubber spatula. Spoon batter by rounded measuring tablespoons into prepred pan.

    Bake 10-12 minutes, till browned at edges and tops spring back when lightly pressed. Let madeleines cool in pan 1 minute. With the tip of a table knife, release onto wire rack to cool completely. Wash, grease, and flour pan. Repeat with remaining batter. Makes 2 dozen.
