BREAD PUDDING
List of Ingredients
10 to 12 slices stale bread (about 3/4 pound)
1/2 cup raisins
6 eggs
2 cups milk
1 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoons nutmeg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup coarsely chopped nuts
Recipe
Line a 12x8 baking dish with bread slices, arrange in layers and sprinkle raisins between layers.
Beat eggs in large bowl until light and foamy. Whisk in the milk, sugar, nutmeg and vanilla until well blended. Pour mixture over bread. Press bread down with spatula. Let stand for 30 minutes so the bread softens and absorbs some of the liquid.
Sprinkle nuts over top. Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes until custard is set. Let stand 15 minutes before serving. 8 servings
