Hamburger "Hot Dogs"
List of Ingredients
8 wooden or metal skewers (if using wooden soak them in water for 15-20 minutes)
1 to 1 1/4 pounds ground beef
1/4 cup sweet pickle relish, plus more for garnish
1/4 cup dry bread crumbs
2 tablespoons ketchup
2 teaspoons yellow mustard, plus more for garnish
8 hot dog bunsRecipe
Preheat grill to medium-high heat or oven to 350 degrees. In a medium bowl combine ground beef, 1/4 cup relish, bread crumbs, ketchup, and 2 teaspoons mustard; mix well. Divide the mixture into 8 equal amounts and shape each into a "hot dog" shape about 6 inches long. Insert a skewer lengthwise through the center of each "hot dog". Cover and refrigerate about 30 minutes, or freeze 10 minutes to help them keep their shape during cooking.
Place the skewers across the grill rack and grill 3 minutes (or in the oven for 25-30 minutes) or till no longer pink inside, turning occasionally. Remove the skewers. Place the "hot dogs" in hot dog buns, garnish with relish and mustard, and serve.
