    Cabbage and Apples

    Great side dish to serve with smoked sausage.


    List of Ingredients


    • 1 small to med green cabbage - cored and thinly sliced
    • 1 lg yellow onion - diced
    • 4 large green apples - peeled, cored and cut into chunks
    • 1 15 oz can of chicken broth (water may by used)
    • 2 tsp cooking oil
    • salt and pepper to taste


    Instructions


    1. In a large pot, lightly sauteed the onions til tender.
    2. Add the chicken broth and cabbage to pot.
    3. Cover and simmer over a low heat to cook the cabbage. Add small amounts of water during cooking, if needed, to avoid sticking and burning.
    4. Just before the cabbage is done, add the apples...mix well and simmer til apples are tender.
    5. Salt and pepper to taste.


    Final Comments


    During the cooking, a large link of smoked sausage can be laid on top of the cabbage to heat.
