    Grandma's Coffee Can Cookies

    Source of Recipe

    Elsie Mallon, my grandmother

    Recipe Introduction

When we were growing up whenever we went to grandma's house she always had these cookies in a coffee can on her kitchen counter. Thru the years all of the relatives asked her for the recipe, and she gave each of us different recipe! So none of us has been able to duplicate her cookies. Some of us think maybe the trick was the coffee can. Sometimes she added some crushed pineapple or nuts. Could be the banana was really ripe. She has passed away, and there is a feud between all the relatives over who has the one recipe closest to hers! I personally think mine is closest. And the old metal coffee can is the key.

    List of Ingredients

    2/3 C. sugar
    1/2 C. margarine
    3 tbsp. milk
    1 egg
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 banana
    2/3 C. flour
    1/4 tsp. baking soda
    1/4 tsp salt
    2 C. oats
1 cup nuts, chocolate chips, raisins

    Recipe

Mix sugar, margarine, milk, egg, vanilla together well. Mix in banana. Add remaining ingredients.
Drop by teaspoonfulls onto a slightly greased pan. Bake about 10 minutes at 375 degrees watching closely.
