Two cups sugar
One cup butter
Four eggs
One teaspoon vanilla
Three (one ounce) squares baking chocolate
One and one half cups flour
One quarter teaspoon salt
One quarter teaspoon baking soda
Chopped nuts, if desired

Melt butter and chocolate, and add to sugar and eggs which have been beaten together. Add rest of ingredients. Bake in nine by thirteen inch, greased and floured pan for thirty minutes at three hundred fifty degrees. Do not over bake..Sprinkle powdered sugar on top.
