    Split Pea Soup

    List of Ingredients


    • 1 pound dried split peas
    • 2 quarts water
    • 1 (10.5 ounce) can chicken broth
    • 1 ham hocks
    • 1 cup diced ham
    • 1 small onion, diced
    • 1 large clove garlic, minced
    • 3/4 cup diced carrots
    • 1 bay leaf
    • 1/4 teaspoon thyme
    • salt and pepper


    Instructions


    1. Bring peas, ham hock and water to a boil in a large Dutch oven or soup pot. Add remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover partially, and simmer about 2 hours or until thick and creamy, adding more broth or water as needed.
