Split Pea Soup

List of Ingredients
- 1 pound dried split peas
- 2 quarts water
- 1 (10.5 ounce) can chicken broth
- 1 ham hocks
- 1 cup diced ham
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 large clove garlic, minced
- 3/4 cup diced carrots
- 1 bay leaf
- 1/4 teaspoon thyme
- salt and pepper
Instructions
- Bring peas, ham hock and water to a boil in a large Dutch oven or soup pot. Add remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover partially, and simmer about 2 hours or until thick and creamy, adding more broth or water as needed.
