    Mexican Lasagna


    List of Ingredients


    • 1 pound lean ground beef
    • 1 (16 ounce) can refried beans
    • 2 teaspoons oregano
    • 1 teaspoon cumin
    • 3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
    • 12 uncooked regular lasagna noodles
    • 2 1/2 cups water
    • 2 1/2 cups salsa
    • 4 ounces ahredded Monterey Jack cheese or Mexican blend


    Instructions


    1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

    2. Combine raw beef, beans, and spices in a mixing bowl.

    3. Place 4 uncooked noodles in the bottom of a 13 x 9-inch baking pan, breaking noodles if necessary to cover whole bottom of pan.

    4. Spread 1/2 of the beef mixture over noodles and top with 4 more noodles. Spread remaining meat mixture over these and top with remaining 4 noodles.

    5. Combine water and salsa and pour over beef and noodles in pan. Cover tightly with foil and bake for 1 1/2 hours.

    6. Remove from oven and sprinkle with cheese. Bake uncovered until cheese is melted, about 5 to 10 minutes. Let stand at least 15 minutes to firm up. This is a must to insure easy slicing.
