    Tamale Soup


    List of Ingredients


    • 1 pound ground beef
    • 1 medium onion, chopped
    • 3 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1 (7 ounce) can chopped green chilies
    • 1 (14.25 ounce) can Mexican stewed tomatoes, undrained
    • 2 (16 ounce) cans pinto beans, undrained
    • 1 (15 ounce) can creamed corn
    • 1 teaspoon cumin
    • 1/2 teaspoon Mexican oregano
    • 2 (10 3/4 ounce) can condensed beef broth, undiluted
    • 1 dozen tamales, cut into 1-inch pieces


    Instructions


    1. Cook ground beef, onion, and garlic in a Dutch oven until ground beef isbrowned, stirring until meat crumbles. Add stewed tomatoes and remaining ingredients, except tamales, and simmer for 1 hour.

    2. Stir in tamale pieces, and serve immediately. Yield: 12 cups.



    Final Comments


    Serve with chopped green onion, chopped jalapeno, shredded cheese and sour cream for garnish.
