    Green Beans with Creamy Herb Sauce

    List of Ingredients


    • 1 pound fresh green beans
    • 2 tablespoons chopped onion
    • 1/2 cup low-fat sour cream
    • 1 tablespoon margarine, melted
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
    • 1/8 teaspoon dried thyme
    • 1/8 teaspoon dried marjoram
    • 1 (5-ounce) can sliced water chestnuts, drained
    • 1/4 cup sliced almonds, toasted


    Instructions


    1. Wash beans; trim ends, and remove strings.
    2. Combine beans and onion in a medium saucepan; add water to cover; bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat to medium, and cook 20 minutes or until vegetables are tender. Drain and return to saucepan. Add sour cream and next 6 ingredients. Cook over low heat until thoroughly heated (do not boil). Transfer to a serving dish, and sprinkle with almonds.

    3. Yield: 6 (2/3-cup) servings
