    Backpackers Snack Bars (energy)

    Make your own trail bars..good for workers lunch box for breaktime snack..

    List of Ingredients




    For crust:
    1/3 cup margarine
    1/2 cup packed brown sugar
    1/2 cup quick oats
    1/3 cup flour
    1/3 cup whole wheat flour
    2 tablespoons toasted wheat germ

    For topping:
    2 beaten eggs
    1/4 cup brown sugar
    1/2 chopped nuts (pecans, almonds, walnuts , etc.)
    1/2 cup flaked coconut
    1/4 cup raisend, dates, or figs

    Recipe



    To make crust:
    Beat margarine until soft. Add 1/2 cup brown sugar. Beat until fluffy. Stir in oats, flour,wheat flour, and wheat germ. Pat into 9x9x2 pan..Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
    For topping:
    Stir together eggs, 1/4 cup brown sugar, nuts, cocunut and raisens (or other) . Pour on top of cooked crust, spreading evenly over surface..Bake at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes, until center is set..Cool slightly in pan on rack. Cut into bars..Makes 24 small or 1 dozen large Bars.
