Homemade Cultured Buttermilk
List of Ingredients
Homemade Cultured Buttermilk
Put whole fresh milk into clean quart jar. If this is your first batch, you will have to purchase cultured buttermilk from the store first. Make sure to get one that you really like and that has a good date on it. Put 2 T. of the store milk into your milk in the quart jar and stir well. Set aside out of drafts in warm room
temperature. Within 12-24 hours, you have homemade cultured buttermilk. Don't make too much at one time as it will continue to thicken. Before you run out and before you are
going to need more, repeat all of
above except use your own homemade buttermilk to start the new quarts.
You won't ever need to buy buttermilk again. If you like cornbread and buttermilk .....well you won't find any any better.Recipe
