Hot Vanilla Butterscotch Milk Punch

1 1/2 cups light brown sugar
3/4 cup hot water
3 tablespoons butter or margarine
9 cups warmed milk
4 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
2 pinches salt
Whipped cream or topping
Nutmeg
Melt brown sugar in large saucepan. Stir constantly. Slowly stir in hot water and bring mixture to boiling point. Add butter and cook 1-2 minutes. Add milk. Heat slowly. Stir constantly. Blend in vanilla and salt. Serve hot with whipped cream and nutmeg garnish. Serves 12.
