Sport Drink
List of Ingredients
In a well-rinsed 1-gallon milk jug:
1 teaspoon regular salt (sodium and chloride; either iodized or not)
1 teaspoon Morton's Lite Salt (potassium and sodium and chloride) (NOT "Salt Sense" or other brands -- potassium chloride must be a principal ingredient)
Dissolve 1-2 crushed Rolaids tablets (for calcium and magnesium -- try fruit flavored)
Add 2-3 tablespoons (not much more!) light Karo syrup for readily-absorbed energy
Flavor as needed (try 1 tub of lemonade or iced tea-flavor Crystal Lite, or a can of concentrated juice)
Fill to top with water.
Drink lukewarm or cool, not ice-cold (you'll drink more, and save energy if it's closer to body temperature).
Remember that if it tastes somewhat salty, very dilute and non-sweet under normal conditions in your kitchen, it’s just about right for use during exercise in the heat when your sense of taste changes.
