Angel Biscuits
List of Ingredients
2 pkg yeast
5 cups flour
1/4 cup sugar
1 TBLS salt
1 cup shortening
3 TBLS warm water
1 TBLS + 1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
2 cups buttermilk
Recipe
Sift together flour,salt,baking powder and baking soda in a large bowl; set aside. In large mixer bowl with dough hook add warm water and yeast stir on lowest setting;add sugar to further activate the yeast. Add dry ingredients and buttermilk; mix well. Turn dough onto a floured surface and knead lightly.(Add extra flour it it is too wet). Roll out to about 3/4 inch thick and cut with floured biscuit cutter or drinking glass. Place on greased pan and brush tops with oil or melted margerine. Put in warm place to rise and then bake at 400 for about 20 minutes.
