Texas Sourdough Corn Bread

1 c Sourdough Starter
2 c Cornmeal
1 1/2 c milk
1/4 c Sugar
2 large eggs, beaten
1/4 c warm melted butter or veg. shortening
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
Preheat oven to 425. Grease a 8-10 inch cast iron skillet or dutch oven. In a large mixing bowl, combine the sourdough, cornmeal, milk, sugar, and eggs. Stir in the melted butter, salt, and baking soda. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake 25 to 30 minutes, until the corn bread is golden on top and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
