Pink Champagne Punch

1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 cup water
1 cup grapefruit juice
1/2 cup orange juice
1/4 cup grenadine syrup
1 32-ounce bottle ginger ale, chilled (4 cups)
Ice
Twists of lemon peel (garnish)
Maraschino cherries, stems on (garnish)
Recipe
Combine sugar and water in saucepan; simmer, uncovered, stirring constantly until sugar is dissolved, about 3 minutes. Cool.
In a large bowl, combine sugar mixture with grapefruit and orange juices and grenadine; chill.
Just before serving add ginger ale, pouring it slowly. Serve over ice and garnish with lemon peel or a cherry.
