3 tablespoons cocoa
2 tablespoons butter
1/3 cup boiling water
1 cup sugar
2 tablespoons light corn syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Combine the cocoa and butter in a small saucepan and place over medium heat. Melt and blend thoroughly, but do not boil. Mix in boiling water and blend thoroughly.
Add the sugar and corn syrup, but do not stir. Cover. Bring the mixture to a boil, allowing it to boil steadily but not furiously for 3 minutes, without stirring. Continue boiling uncovered for 3 minutes without stirring. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Makes about 1 cup.
