Goats' Milk Soap
List of Ingredients
1 can lye (13 ounces) dissolved into 3.5 (three and a half) cups pure water.
1 to 1.5 cups goat's milk
13 cups rendered (melted, in liquid form) beef fat or lard
Scent (optional)
Recipe
Remember; don't use aluminum pans. Cool lye mixture to about 97 degrees. Melt fat and cool down to about 100 degrees. When the temperatures are correct, add the lye and water mixture to the fat and stir constantly. Mixture will start to thicken. Add goat's milk at this time and stir until a drop traces. Add the scent, if so desired. Grease your molds with Vaseline and pour mixture into molds. (The Vaseline helps to remove soap from mold more easily). Score if necessary. Let this stand for 24 hours. Remove from molds and cut into desired sizes (following score lines). Set on cardboard in an out of the way place and allow to cure for a month. Test the soap to make sure it is cured.
