    GARLIC-GINGER BEEF KEBABS

    Serves 6-8

    • 1 cup root beer

    • 1 cup soy sauce

    • 1/4 cup red wine vinegar

    • 1/4 cup maple syrup

    • 6 cloves garlic, minced

    • 1 teaspoon gingerroot, grated

    • 1 teaspoon ground allspice

    • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves

    • 2-pound sirloin steak, cut into 1-inch cubes

    • 12 ounces cherry tomatoes, washed

    • 1 pound mushroom caps

    • 2 onions, small, quartered

    • 2 bell peppers of choice, cut into 1-inch dice

    • 3 tablespoons (1 whole) jalapeno pepper, seeded and minced

    Preheat grill.

    Place first 8 ingredients (root beer through cloves) in large bowl or large sealable plastic bag. Stir or shake until blended. Add all remaining ingredients. Make sure the marinade covers the meat and vegetables and refrigerate 2-4 hours.

    If using wooden skewers for the kebabs, soak them in warm water for 15 minutes before skewering meat and vegetables.

    Thread the steak, tomatoes, mushrooms, onions and bell peppers on the skewers. Place skewers on grills, grilling 10 to 12 minutes per side or until done; turn and baste with marinade occasionally.
