I MAKE CROSTINI ALL THE TIME FOR A SNACK OR FOR ENTERTAINING. THEY ARE EASY AND VERY QUICK TO PUT TOGETHER. I FOUND THIS RECIPE ON ONE OF THE SITES WHICH I BELONG TO. I HAVE ALSO SUBSTITUTED FRESH GARLIC AND ITALIAN DRY DRESSING FOR THE GARLIC/HERB CREAM CHEESE SPREAD. IT WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD WITH WONDERFUL FLAVORS TO TEMP THE TASTE BUDS.
List of Ingredients
- 20 ( 1/2" ) THICK SLICES FRESH FRENCH BREAD
- 1 TABLESPOON OLIVE OIL, OR OLIVE OIL SPRAY
- 1/2 CUP GARLIC & HERB CREAM CHEESE SPREAD
- 1/4 CUP CHOPPED GREN ONIONS
Instructions
- LIGHTLY SPRAY OR BRUSH BREAD SLICES ON BOTH SIDES AND PLACE ON AN UNGREASED COOKIE SHEET. BROIL UNTIL LIGHTLY GOLDEN BROWN, TURN OVER AND CONTINUE TO BROWN OTHER SIDE.
- IN A BOWL, COMBINE REMAINING INGREDIENTS AND BLEND WELL.
- SPREAD ON TOASTED BREAD SLICES AND RETURN TO OVEN AND BROIL UNTIL CHEESE BUBBLES.

TO MAKE FROM SCRATCH GARLIC/HERB CREAM CHEESE SPREAD DO THE FOLLOWING: CHOP FINELY GARLIC, ( HOW MANY DEPENDS ON YOUR LOVE FOR GARLIC)1 TO 2 TEASPOONS OF ITALIAN DRY DRESSING, ( AGAIN THIS IS TO YOUR TASTE, START WITH 1 TSPN AND THEN TASTE)MIX IN WITH 4 OUNCES OF SOFTENED CREAM CHEESE, 1 TEASPOON MAYONNAISE AND SCALLIONS MIXING WELL TO COMBINE. EXPERIMENT WITH THE INGREDIENT AMOUNTS.
