    List of Ingredients


    • 1 1/2 CUPS BISQUICK BAKING MIX
    • 1/2 CUP SUGAR
    • 1/2 CUP MILK
    • 2 TABLESPOONS SHORTENING
    • 1 TEASPOON VANILLA
    • 1 EGG
    • TOPPING:
    • 1/2 CUP FLAKED COCONUT
    • 1/3 CUP PACKED BROWN SUGAR
    • 1/4 CUP CHOPPED NUTS
    • 3 TABLESPOONS SOFTENED BUTTER
    • 2 TABLESLPOONS MILK


    Instructions


    1. PREHEAT OVEN TO 350°. GREASE AND FLOUR A 9" SQUARE PAN.
    2. COMBINE ALL OF THE TOPPING INGREDIENTS TOGETHER UNTIL WELL COMBINED. SET ASIDE.
    3. COMBINE THE BISQUICK, SUGAR, MILK, SHORTENING, VANILLA AND EGG IN A MIXER BOWL AND BEAT FOR 30 SECONDS, SCRAPING BOWL CONSTANTLY. BEAT ON MEDIUM SPEED FOR 4 MINUTES, SCRAPING BOWL, POUR INTO PREPARED PAN.
    4. BAKE 30 TO 35 MINUTES OR UNTIL TESTER INSERTED IN CENTER COMES OUT CLEAN, COOL SLIGHTLY.
    5. SET OVEN CONTROL TO BROIL.
    6. SPREAD TOPPING OVER ENTIRE CAKE, RETURN TO OVEN AND BROIL ABOUT 3 MINUTES OR UNTIL GOLDEN BROWN.
