CAROLE'S BUTTER STICKS

- 2 CUPS SELF RISING FLOUR
- 2 TABLESPOONS SUGAR
- 3/4 CUPS MILK
- 1 STICK SWEET BUTTER
- SESAME OR POPPY SEEDS
Instructions
- PREHEAT OVEN TO 425°.
- MELT BUTTER IN A 7 X 11" BAKING PAN.
- MIX FLOUR, SUGAR AND MILK, KEEPING THE DOUGH AS SOFT AS POSSIBLE. LET DOUGH REST 1 MINUTE AND THEN KNEAD GENTLY ON A FLOURED CLOTH. ROLL DOUGH TO SIZE OF PAN AND CUT LENGTHWISE IN THE CENTER OF DOUGH. CUT THE DOUGH CROSSWISE AT 3/4" INTERVALS WITH A SHARP, FLOURED KNIFE TO MAKE STICKS, APPROXIMATELY 3/4" X 3 1/2". ROLL IN MELTED BUTTER COMPLETELY COATING STICKS.
- SPRINKLE WITH SESAME OR POPPY SEEDS ON TOP AND BAKE 12 TO 15 MINUTES OR UNTIL GOLDEN BROWN. ALLOW TO SIT UNTIL EXCESS BUTTER IS ABSORBED ABOUT 1 TO 2 MINUTES. SERVE WHILE HOT.
