    ALMOND GLAZED SUGAR COOKIES


    List of Ingredients


    • 1 CUP LAND O LAKES SWEET BUTTER, SOFTENED
    • 3/4 CUPS SUGAR
    • 1 TEASPOON ALMOND EXTRACT
    • 2 CUPS FLOUR
    • 1/2 TEASPOON BAKING POWDER
    • 1/4 CUP SALT
    • ******************************************************************************
    • GLAZE:
    • 1 1/2 CUPS CONFECTIONERS' SUGAR
    • 1 TEASPOON ALMOND EXTRACT
    • 4 OR 5 TEASPOONS WATER
    • SLICED ALMONDS, TOASTED IF YOU LIKE


    Instructions


    1. PREHEAT OVEN TO 400°.
    2. COMBINE BUTTER, SUGAR AND ALMOND EXTRACT IN A LARGE MIXER BOWL. BEAT AT MEDIUM SPEED, SCRAPING BOWL OFTEN, UNTIL CREAMY , 1 TO 2 MINUTES.
    3. REDUCE SPEED TO LOW, ADD ALL REMAINING COOKIE INGREDIENTS. BEAT UNTIL WELL MIXED, 1 TO 2 MINUTES.
    4. ROLL DOUGH INTO 1" BALLS, PLACE 2" APART ON A COOKIE SHEET. FLATTEN BALLS INTO 1/4" THICKNESS WITH THE BOTTOM OF A BUTTERED GLASS DIPPPED IN SUGAR.
    5. BAKE FOR 7 TO 9 MINUTES OR UNTIL EDGES ARE VERY LIGHTLY BROWNED. REMOVE COOKIE SHEET FROM OVEN AND COOL 1 MINUTE. REMOVE FROM COOKIE SHEET AND PLACE ON A WIRE RACK TO COOL COMPLETELY.
    6. IN A SMALL BOWL, STIR TOGETHER ALL OF THE GLAZE INGREDIENTS WITH A WIRE WHISK. DECORATE COOLED COOKIES WITH GLAZE AND SLICED ALMONDS.
    7. 3 1/2 DOZEN COOKIES
