ALMOND GLAZED SUGAR COOKIES
List of Ingredients
- 1 CUP LAND O LAKES SWEET BUTTER, SOFTENED
- 3/4 CUPS SUGAR
- 1 TEASPOON ALMOND EXTRACT
- 2 CUPS FLOUR
- 1/2 TEASPOON BAKING POWDER
- 1/4 CUP SALT
- ******************************************************************************
- GLAZE:
- 1 1/2 CUPS CONFECTIONERS' SUGAR
- 1 TEASPOON ALMOND EXTRACT
- 4 OR 5 TEASPOONS WATER
- SLICED ALMONDS, TOASTED IF YOU LIKE
Instructions
- PREHEAT OVEN TO 400°.
- COMBINE BUTTER, SUGAR AND ALMOND EXTRACT IN A LARGE MIXER BOWL. BEAT AT MEDIUM SPEED, SCRAPING BOWL OFTEN, UNTIL CREAMY , 1 TO 2 MINUTES.
- REDUCE SPEED TO LOW, ADD ALL REMAINING COOKIE INGREDIENTS. BEAT UNTIL WELL MIXED, 1 TO 2 MINUTES.
- ROLL DOUGH INTO 1" BALLS, PLACE 2" APART ON A COOKIE SHEET. FLATTEN BALLS INTO 1/4" THICKNESS WITH THE BOTTOM OF A BUTTERED GLASS DIPPPED IN SUGAR.
- BAKE FOR 7 TO 9 MINUTES OR UNTIL EDGES ARE VERY LIGHTLY BROWNED. REMOVE COOKIE SHEET FROM OVEN AND COOL 1 MINUTE. REMOVE FROM COOKIE SHEET AND PLACE ON A WIRE RACK TO COOL COMPLETELY.
- IN A SMALL BOWL, STIR TOGETHER ALL OF THE GLAZE INGREDIENTS WITH A WIRE WHISK. DECORATE COOLED COOKIES WITH GLAZE AND SLICED ALMONDS.
