BEST SUGAR COOKIES

- 1 1/2 CUPS BUTTER
- 2 CUPS SUGAR
- 4 EGGS
- 1 TEASPOON VANILLA
- 5 CUPS FLOUR
- 2 TEASPOONS BAKING POWDER
- 1 TEASPOON SALT
Instructions
- PREHEAT OVEN TO 400°.
- CREAM TOGETHER THE BUTTER AND SUGAR TILL LIGHT AND FLUFFY. ADD EGGS AND VANILLA, MIXING WELL TO COMBINE ALL INGREDIENTS.
- ADD FLOUR, BAKING POWDER AND SALT. MIX WELL. COVER DOUGH AND CHILL FOR AT LEAST 1 HOUR OR OVERNIGHT.
- ROLL DOUGH OUT ON A LIGHTLY FLOURED SURFACE 1/4 TO 1/2" THICK. CUT WITH ANY COOKIE SHAPE THAT YOU WANT.
- PLACE ON UNGREASED COOKIE SHEET AND BAKE FOR 6 TO 8 MINUTES. REMOVE FROM PAN AND COOL 5 MINUTES. REMOVE COOKIES TO A WIRE RACK TO COOL COMPLETELY.
- YOU CAN MAKE A THIN ICING WITH CONFECTIONERS' SUGAR AND MILK TO DECORATE THESE COOKIES.
