    CHOCOLATE FROSTED SHORTBREAD


    List of Ingredients


    • 1 CUP BUTTER SOFTENED
    • 1 CUP TIGHTLY PACKED BROWN SUGAR
    • 1 EGG YOLK
    • 1 TEASPOON VANILLA
    • 2 CUPS FLOUR
    • 1/4 TEASPOON SALT
    • 8 OUNCES MINI-SEMI-SWEET CHOCOLATE CHIPS
    • 1/2 CUP CHOPPED PECANS OR PISTACHIO NUTS


    Instructions


    1. PREHEAT OVEN TO 350°.
    2. CREAM BUTTER AND SUGAR UNTIL LIGHT AND FLUFFY. ADD EGG YOLK AND VANILLA BEATING UNTIL COMBINED.
    3. COMBINE FLOUR AND SALT MIXING WELL AND ADD TO CREAMED MIXTURE.
    4. PRESS INTO A GREASED 15 X 10" BAKING PAN. BAKE FOR 15 TO 18 MINUTES OR TILL GOLDEN BROWN.
    5. REMOVE FROM OVEN AND SPRINKLE WITH CHOCOLATE CHIPS OVER CRUST, LET STAND FOR A MINUTE OR TWO UNTIL CHOCOLATE IS SOFTENED. SPREAD EVENLY OVER CRUST AND SPRINKLE WITH CHOPPED NUTS. COOL AND CUT INTO SQUARAES.
