CHOCOLATE FROSTED SHORTBREAD
List of Ingredients
- 1 CUP BUTTER SOFTENED
- 1 CUP TIGHTLY PACKED BROWN SUGAR
- 1 EGG YOLK
- 1 TEASPOON VANILLA
- 2 CUPS FLOUR
- 1/4 TEASPOON SALT
- 8 OUNCES MINI-SEMI-SWEET CHOCOLATE CHIPS
- 1/2 CUP CHOPPED PECANS OR PISTACHIO NUTS
Instructions
- PREHEAT OVEN TO 350°.
- CREAM BUTTER AND SUGAR UNTIL LIGHT AND FLUFFY. ADD EGG YOLK AND VANILLA BEATING UNTIL COMBINED.
- COMBINE FLOUR AND SALT MIXING WELL AND ADD TO CREAMED MIXTURE.
- PRESS INTO A GREASED 15 X 10" BAKING PAN. BAKE FOR 15 TO 18 MINUTES OR TILL GOLDEN BROWN.
- REMOVE FROM OVEN AND SPRINKLE WITH CHOCOLATE CHIPS OVER CRUST, LET STAND FOR A MINUTE OR TWO UNTIL CHOCOLATE IS SOFTENED. SPREAD EVENLY OVER CRUST AND SPRINKLE WITH CHOPPED NUTS. COOL AND CUT INTO SQUARAES.
